ADVANCED SWING METRICS BY SWINGTRACKER

Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

03/25/2018 - College PREP - Madison (NYC), NJ Peter continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through well with momentum to his target. Glove action is soft and he presents well, utilizing two hands through the process. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a crouched setup. Hands are quick and work to and through a level swing path, creating extension. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 75 mph. Fastball showed a range of 73-75 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Changeup shows sinking action but slows arm speed on his changeup tipping off pitch to hitters. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

02/10/2018 - College PREP - Palmyra (Harrisburg), PA Peter is a lean RHP who will graduate in 2019. On the mound Peter stands over the rubber well balanced, he separates on-time, and lands in a square position. He repeats his delivery well, has good direction toward home, and competes in the zone with his pitches. A looser arm action, quicker tempo, and added arm strength will help mound effectiveness get better. At the plate, Peter has a closed stance, good balance, and a level swing. He has okay bat speed, a repeatable swing, and he uses some lower body. If Peter can loosen his grip, let the ball travel, and work on timing, hitting numbers can spike.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
