Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

06/29/2023 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (HS) Peter continues to shine with his baseball abilities at the Cape Cod event. He did show at 3B for the first time at the event. continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At 3B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 73-75 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with downward action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

02/18/2023 - National Showcase - Marlborough (Boston), MA Peter is a RHP who will graduate in 2023. Medium frame stout build with strength present. On the mound, Peter works exclusively from the stretch. He gets a good rear hip coil, with good balance, and keeps his eyes on his target. He attacks hitters with a FB that sits 72-74mph, a 12/6 shaped breaking ball, a 10/4 shaped slider, and a changeup that he throws with FB arm speed. FB was best pitch during his bullpen. A left-handed hitter, starts with an upright and even stance. Direct barrel path, with a small hand load, and ability to use whole field. Hit line drives to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 82mph during BP. As he continues to develop and mature, we see him having a bright future on the baseball field.

11/13/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Marlborough (Boston), MA Peter Santoro is a RHP in the 2023 class. On the mound, he works with great tempo and keeps his defenders engaged. He gathers over the mound well and has on-time separation. He uses his body well and gets maximum effort from his core. He operates with a 3-pitch mix from a ¾ slot. Is considered a control pitcher with solid velo. His FB sits 78 with arm side run and good spin rate. His SL sits 69-70 with 11-5 shape. His CH sits 72-3 with run down in the zone. At the plate, he swings with intent to do damage. Looks athletic in the box and begins with a great bat angle. He uses the whole field with his line drive approach. Ball jumps off the bat (84 exit velo) and makes squared contact. Overall, Peter is a fine athlete and can make a contribution to a college program shortly.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
