08/05/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Peyton continues to show steady play in baseball abilities behind the plate and at 1B. He utilizes his feet well in in working in line through a quick transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed a range of 2.13-2.26 and will continue to drop as he improves foot quickness and builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Blocking / receiving tools are outstanding. At 1B, feet are active, displaying proper foot work around the bag. Hands are soft / clean as he consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt. At the plate, he shows a balanced setup with rhythm. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through an aggressive approach. For hitting grade to continue to improve, he needs to work to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to load and use his lower half more. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great attitude and plays hard.

02/03/2013 - College PREP - Houston, TX Peyton is a tall, lanky C/1B that will graduate in 2014. Currently, he projects best behind the plate for the next level. Feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer and exchange. Receiving / blocking skills are quality tools that will play well at the next level. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. He attacks ground balls and plays through. Hands are soft / clean but needs to be presented more out front to continue to improve defensive grade. At the plate, Piersol shows an athletic setup with rhythm. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed to and through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields and shows a feel for the barrel with the baseball jumping off his bat when centered. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. Peyton has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
