01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (TX) Phil is an athletic/projectable (6'4"/205), versatile athlete who is fun to watch. He plays the game hard every time he steps onto the diamond. With the bat, this righty is looking to do damage. Quick hands fire the barrel to and through the zone as he connects with power and sends the ball screaming to the deep parts of the part. In the OF, he has active prep while taking a quick first step tracking down fly-balls with speed. He works behind and through the ball, gaining ground and firing strong/accurate throws with carry into his target. Carter possesses the skill-set that will make an immediate impact at the next level.

08/14/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Parker (Denver), CO Phil is a C/OF/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2021. Behind the plate, Phil shows active footwork and keeps the ball in front of him when blocking. He receives with a firm glove and makes a clean exchange. He gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate and on-line to the 2B bag. In the OF, Phil shows quick footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into a low position and fields ground balls out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate and on-line to his target. At the plate, this RHH shows an advanced approach through a square setup. He is smooth getting into his load and hits against a strong front side. He generates explosive bat speed through the zone, leading to loud contact and great gap to gap power. On the mound, Phil gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He throws with intent and extends through his release. Phil shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 83mph. Breaking ball sits from 67-69mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits from 69-72mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall, Phil is a talented prospect who has the skill set to excel at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
