10/25/2020 - All-In Membership - San Jose, CA Philbert continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. At SS, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry (80 mph velocity) across the diamond. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 77-78 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

07/20/2020 - All-In Membership - Stockton (Sacramento), CA Philbert is a talented/athletic 2-way player who continues to progress every time we see him. On the mound, this righty pounds the zone with strikes working the ball in and out. He gets balanced and drives downhill, in-line toward the dish. 2-seam FB has good tailing action. Curveball shows to be his best pitch at it has 11/5 shape with sharp break. He follows through and finishes his pitches well. At SS, Fan displays active pre-pitch footwork and moves well into a square/athletic fielding position. He gathers well and has a clean transfer to throw. He has the ability to make the play on the run and throw from multiple arm slots. As a hitter, this righty shows a balanced setup with fluid rhythm. He takes a hack with plus bat speed, connects and drives the ball with some pop. He is a good leadoff type with a knack the square up the ball consistently. Philbert has the skills that will make an impact on the diamond as he approaches his senior year.

12/27/2019 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Philbert is an athletic 2-way prospect that was eager to learn and has a high baseball IQ. At 2B, Philbery is on time with his prep step, he presents a low/early glove, and has a good first step to the ball. He has range on both sides of the ball, he creates good angles, and he makes accurate throws from multiple arm slots. At the plate, Philbert starts in an athletic stance, he loads his hands back, and gets to a good balanced position. He keeps the barrel on plane and he makes consistent contact. Continuing to attack the inside part of the ball and rotating his lower half will improve his ability to drive the ball to all fields. On the bump, Philbert has good mound presences, hes laser focused, and competes on every pitch. He commands his fastball and has a medium break on his curveball. He gathers over the rubber, he separates on time, and he finishes over the front side. Philbert will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

09/01/2019 - College PREP - San Francisco, CA Philbert is an athletic and strong 2021 2-way prospect. On the Bump, Philbert gathers over the rubber, he separates on time, and has a loose arm action. At 2B, Philbert is on time with his pre step, he presents a low/early glove, and works from the ground up. He plays through the ball and makes accurate throws from multiple arm slots. At the plate, Philbert starts in a crouched stance, he loads his hands back, and shows some potential pull side pop. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
