07/09/2014 - College PREP - Minneapolis, MN Phillip only showed in the OF but he has improved his abilities. Foot speed has improved the most as he ran his best 60 time to date but will benefit by continuing to increase foot quickness. Defensive grades have improved, now showing slightly above average. He reads balls well off the bat and takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. For defensive grades to continue to improve, he needs to work to get behind balls more to play through with momentum to his target. Arm strength has improved as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and carry on his throws. He will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a balanced setup. Hands are loose and make consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to stay inside the ball to utilizes all fields through a line drive approach. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to load more and transfer weight properly through his lower half.
