07/26/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Bowie, MD Philip continues to shine on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best through a squared setup. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Barrel is whipped through the zone (80 mph exit velocity) as he connects with strength. The ball jumps off of his barrel as he crushes it to the gaps. On the mound, he shows a sound, repeatable delivery that allows his arm action to work free to the plate. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 79 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on changeup but throws too hard resembling fastball. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength on the mound.

05/05/2019 - College PREP - Henrico (Richmond), VA Philip continues to shine on the diamond. In the OF, he utilizes his feet well in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup with balanced. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and shows a plus feel for the barrel, flashing gap-to-gap pop. 02/23/2019 - Mid Atlantic Regional Hitting, Pitching & Catching Combined Weekend (Ages 14-18) Phillip is an athletic and talented 2021 pitching prospect that was eager to learn and made several adjustments throughout the weekend. On the bump, Phillip shows confidence in all three pitches and throws to both sides of the plate. He gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and works north to south in his delivery. His fastball has slight run, his curveball has a medium break, and he has some feel for his changeup. His shoulders stay in line to his target and he has a loose arm action. Continuing to develop his changeup will elevate his ability to attack the strike with his fastball. At the plate, Phillip starts in a squared stance and keeps his hands in a low position. He needs to continue to load his hands back into the drive position, attack the inside part of the ball, and create backside drive with his lower half. Creating rhythm in his hands will improve his ability to whip the barrel through the zone. Phillip will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

10/07/2018 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Philip is a RHP/OF prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. On the mound, Philip gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. Changeup sits from 62-63mph with arm side run and sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Philip can improve as a pitcher by driving his lower half more. In the OF, Philip shows quick footwork and covers ground well. He makes the routine plays, fielding the ball out in front of his body. He shows a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them consistently on-line to his target. Philip can improve defensively by getting into a lower fielding position. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He gets into his load and drives his lower half through well. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed which leads to solid line drives. Philip can improve as a hitter by working a smoother rhythm into his load. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
