07/21/2022 - Baseball Factory National World Series at IMG Academy - Session 2 (HS) Phoenix is a coachable LHP/OF prospect who worked hard on his skills during the National World Series. On the mound, Phoenix gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through his release, staying inline toward the plate. Phoenix operates with a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 76mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits form 62-64mph with 1-7 break. Driving his lower half more can help Phoenix improve his pitch velocity. In the field, Phoenix shows active footwork with a quick first step. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through his target. Phoenix can build up his arm strength by long tossing. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He rotates his core through well and produces strong line drives. Working a smoother load into his swing can help Phoenix barrel up more baseballs. Overall, Phoenix is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.
