12/11/2020 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Phoenix is an athletic SS/RHP prospect who showed well during the Academic All-American Tournament. In the field, Phoenix shows efficient footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is quick and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He is controlled getting his hands activated in his load and is explosive driving his lower half through. He works through a smooth swing with plus bat speed, leading to loud contact and great gap to gap power. On the mound, Phoenix gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, staying inline toward the plate. Phoenix shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 81mph with arm side run and sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 64-66mph with 10-4 break. Overall, Phoenix is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

11/04/2018 - College PREP - Plano (DFW), TX Phoenix is a thin, athletic, 2-way player who will graduate in 2022. On the mound, Phoenix stands over the rubber well balanced, he separates on time, and gets good extension on his pitches. He lands with good direction toward home, has a controlled landing, and finishes in a complete position; competing in the zone. A looser arm action and developing a CH will help mound effectiveness improve. At SS, Phoenix has soft/presentable hands, he moves well to the ball, and fields athletically. He covers ground well, his exchange is quick and clean, and he throws with momentum and accuracy to his target. Added arm strength and accuracy can help defensive skills continue to improve. Offensively, Phoenix has a tall/open stance, a short/square stride, and quick hands. He has a direct barrel through the ball and makes consistent contact. Hitting can improve with better rhythm, barrel accuracy, and more lower body.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
