12/11/2020 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Phoenix is an athletic SS/RHP prospect who showed well during the Academic All-American Tournament. In the field, Phoenix shows efficient footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is quick and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He is controlled getting his hands activated in his load and is explosive driving his lower half through. He works through a smooth swing with plus bat speed, leading to loud contact and great gap to gap power. On the mound, Phoenix gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release, staying inline toward the plate. Phoenix shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 81mph with arm side run and sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 64-66mph with 10-4 break. Overall, Phoenix is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.
