04/23/2023 - National Showcase - Daytona Beach, FL Phoenix continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate is where he has improved the most, now displaying solid hitting / power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. At 2B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls but needs to play through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents out front. In the OF, he displays smooth fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He needs to work to get behind balls and play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program.

11/03/2022 - Baseball Factory Fall Select Tournament at the Jackie Robinson Sports Complex Phoenix continues to shine with his baseball abilities. In the OF, he displays smooth fluid actions. 07/25/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Sanford (Orlando), FL Phoenix is an OF/2B who will graduate in 2025. Tall frame lean build with some strength present. At 2B, starts with a prep-step as he works to center the ball, with active feet, and showed ability to make routine plays. Creates good rhythm as he tracks ball to glove and fields from an athletic/low fielding position. Made accurate/on-line throws to first base from a low 3/4 arm slot, with momentum towards his target, and an arm velocity up to 67mph. In the OF, starts with a prep step and fluid/active feet as he ran good routes to baseball. He works behind the ball and fields from an athletic/square fielding position with low funnel off of his left foot. Made on-line throws through his cutoff man with a quick release. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and even stance. Starts with a good load and takes an aggressive swing. Gets his back hip through contact point as hit line drives to all fields during his round of BP. With 3 years of continued growth and development, we foresee Phoenix having a bright future on the baseball field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
