Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Pierce is an impressive, young prospect who has improved his game in a big way. Most notably is the power he possesses at the plate, profiling as a middle of the order bat. He shows a compact swing with an efficient path to the ball, delivering the barrel consistently. His strong lower half generates big power and he makes hard, line drive contact regularly. At third, he shows off a strong arm to make long throws and tough plays. His quick twitch actions allow him to react to hard hit balls and cover ground to make plays. On the bump, this right hander works up to 77mph with his fastball and complements it with a 62mph curveball. He is composed on the mound and uses his frame to work downhill to hitters. As he matures and develops more feel for his pitches, he will start to command them better. Pierce is a talented player with plenty to look forward to on the field.

02/04/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Dayton, OH Pierce is a young, 2-way player who plays OF and 3B. In the OF, Pierce has active footwork to the ball, he fields in a low/square position, and makes plays consistently. His hands are firm, his exchange is quick, and he throws with a short arm action with consistency to his cutoff man. At 3B, Pierce has good pre-pitch actions, he takes good angles to the ball, and he gains ground with good accuracy to his target. Offensively, Pierce has a square set-up, a square stride, and good balance. He is an aggressive hitter with a short/direct barrel and makes square contact. Pierce can get better with work on the following.

Outfield
1. Earlier hands
2. Lengthen AA
3. Soften glove
Infield
1. Fielding position
2. Quicken feet
3. Long toss
Offense

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
