Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

11/06/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Plano (DFW), TX Pierce is a 1B/RHP who will graduate in 2024. Tall frame lean build with strength present and room to add throughout. At 1B, he plays under the baseball and showed ability to make routine plays. He works to center the ball and keep in front of him. A loose arm stroke into a high 3/4 release point, with ability to turn glove side, and made accurate throws to second base. On the mound, he has long levers and a projectible frame. Gets to a good balance point and works with good direction towards the plate. Throws a FB that sits 66-67mph, and a changeup with some arm side run that he throws with FB arm speed. A left-handed hitter, he starts with an athletic and open stance. He has smooth timing to his swing and showed ability to use whole field. A flat barrel path enables him to hit balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 78mph. With 2 years of continued growth and development, we foresee Pierce having a bright future on the baseball diamond.

07/19/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Highland Park (DFW), TX Pierce is a C/SS who will graduate in 2024. Tall frame lean build, with strength present, and room to add throughout. At SS, he shows active/efficient footwork and a good pre-pitch routine. Moves well through the ball while working towards target. Square fielding position as he tries to field out front with a clean exchange. On-line throws, with momentum to target, and an arm velocity of 74mph across diamond. Behind the dish, he creates good blocking angles and covers the 5-hole. Presents a low target and works with good direction towards second base. Consistent/on-line throws to second from a high 3/4 arm slot and a best pop time of 2.50 seconds. A left-handed hitter, he hits from an athletic and crouched stance. Smooth swing, with good timing, and ability to pull hands through the zone. Creates some bat whip and made square contact. During his round of BP, Pierce hit line drives to all fields with a bat exit velocity of 71mph. With 3 years of continued growth and development, we foresee him having a bright future on the baseball field.

11/20/2020 - Texas Regional Offensive Skills and Pitching/Catching Combined Weekend Pierce is a C prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Texas Regional Skills Weekend. Behind the plate, Pierce presents a good target to the pitcher and has a clean exchange. He throws with a quick arm and keeps his throws accurate to the 2B bag. He is aggressive moving to block and keeps the ball in front of him. Long tossing can help Pierce build up his arm strength. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a tall stance and hits against a strong front side. He stays short through the ball and uses the entire field well. Pierce can produce more consistent contact by working a smoother load into swing. Overall, Pierce is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

11/12/2020 - Baseball Factory Fall Select Tournament at Pirate City Pierce is a coachable SS/C prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Fall Select Tournament at Pirate City. In the field, Pierce shows active footwork and makes the routine plays. He gains ground well on his throws and keeps them accurate to his target. Long tossing can help Pierce build up his arm strength. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a square stance and takes a controlled stride. He gets into a simple load and works through a smooth swing, leading to consistent contact and line drives. Pierce can produce more pop off the barrel by getting his hands activated in his load. With four more years to develop, Pierce has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

07/14/2020 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Frisco (DFW), TX Pierce is a very talented SS who continues to shine. At SS, he is aggressive coming to get the GB working fluidly right to left. Hands are soft/sure with a quick release to throw. At the plate, this LHH shows well through a tall, open setup. He takes a hack with hands connecting and hitting consistent/hard line-drives with power showing best to the pull side. Pierce has the skills that will make an impact on the diamond.

06/05/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Sugar Land (Houston), TX Pierce is a C prospect who will graduate in 2024. Behind the plate, Pierce presents a good target to the pitcher and tracks the ball into his glove. He throws from a high 3/4 angle and keeps his throws accurate to the 2B bag. Sitting in a more athletic stance can help Pierce improve defensively. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an open stance and takes a short stride. He gets back into his load well and takes a direct swing, leading to solid contact to all fields. Pierce can improve as a hitter by working a smoother rhythm into his load. With four more years to develop, Pierce has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
