07/23/2012 - 2012 Team One Northeast Showcase PJ is an athletic outfielder and spends time on the mound as well. In the outfield, he covers plenty of ground, allowing him to get around and play through the baseball. His defensive abilities should continue to develop as he invests in a consistent long-toss program. At the plate, he has an athletic setup and quiet head that allows him to maintain a consistent and compact swing. His offensive tools should continue to improve as he learns to stay downhill to contact. On the mound, he has easy actions and maintains a quiet head, along with a loose arm action. His abilities on the mound should continue to develop as he learns to attack the zone early with fastballs. As a 2014 graduate, PJ has the opportunity to continue to develop his skills in preparation for the next level.

04/29/2012 - College PREP - Providence, RI PJ is a tall and thin LHP who has a pitchers build. He ran an impressive 60, running it in 6.74. On the mound, he delivers from a high 3/4 arm slot and loose arm action. He gets to a good balance point, he keeps his eyes on his target, and he stays in-line toward the plate. His FB ranges from 82-84 mph and is thrown for strikes. A better finish and sharper CB will help mound effectiveness improve. Offensively at the plate, PJ shows a square/tall setup, solid load, and short stride. He gets his lower 1/2 thru and makes consistent contact, with the ability to spray to all fields. Hitting abilities will improve if he can loosen up his grip and create more extension thru contact.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
