01/12/2020 - Interactive Video Program - Waipahu (Honolulu), HI Pono is a young, 2-way player with solid skills at both positions. Behind the plate, Pono tracks well, footwork is playable, and he covers some ground. He centers well when blocking, tries hard to frame, and throws with accuracy to 2nd base. In the OF, Pono has good pre-pitch actions, he moves well to the ball, and makes plays. He fields ground balls low, and gains momentum when throwing to his cut off man. Offensively, Pono has an open stance, a square stride, and he makes solid contact. He has some strength in his swing and hits hard to the pull side. Overall skills can further improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
