Behind the plate, Porter shows efficient footwork and covers up well when blocking balls in the dirt. He sets up in a square stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. He gains momentum well on his throws to 2B and keeps them consistently on-line to the bag. Porter can improve defensively by quickening his exchange to throw. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting back into his load and hits from a firm front side in his lower half. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed which leads to hard contact and gap to gap pop. Porter can improve as a hitter by getting into his load more. With four more years to develop, Porter has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.
