10/14/2015 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Prescott continues to improve all areas of his game (foot speed, athletic projections etc). Behind the plate, he is a leader with excellent communication. His hands are soft, footwork is efficient and he throws with carry and accuracy. Working on framing the low pitch and improving lateral range while blocking will improve his C abilities. Offensively, he hits with mature discipline at the plate with a battling mentality with two strikes. His actions are rhythmic and sure as he hits with a contact type approach. Overall, Prescott is entering his junior season with a next level toolset.

01/19/2015 - College PREP - Mesa (Phoenix), AZ Horn improved his foot speed at the event as he ran his best 60 time to date, now an above average runner at 7.20. Behind the plate, he utilizes his quick feet well in working in line to his target. Pop times were in the 2.15 range with time continuing to improve as he builds more arm strength and works to get rid of the baseball quicker. Receiving blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. In the OF, he take proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He plays hard with defensive grade improving as he works to get behind balls more, playing through with momentum to his target. At the plate, he shows a squared / balanced setup. Hands works through a level swing path and makes consistent contact. Power numbers will continue to improve as he loads more and works to use his lower half more efficiently.

10/01/2014 - Arizona Freshman/Sophomore Fall Classic Prescott is a very impressive catcher that is consistent in all he does on the diamond. Defensively, he is as accurate a thrower as they come, flashing pops in the 2.1 range. He sits easy, presents ready hands, and receives with a sure glove. He has good instincts, manages the game well and is vocal. Added forearm strength and greater anticipation to block will increase defensive play. Offensively, he gets activated to hit and is consistently on-time. He has hand and hip coordination and repeats his swing path. He is athletic with his frame, runs the bases well and is always on offensive threat. Overall - Prescott is a gamer that works hard and plays the game the way it should be played.

06/14/2014 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 Prescott continues to work hard on his game. He has made improvements to his game since we last saw him in Pirate City. In the OF, he works on the balls of his feet and shows active pre-pitch movements. His first step in quick as he takes solid routes/angles moving well laterally to balls hit into the gaps. He shows versatility as he can play any one of the 3 OF spots. 60 yard dash has improved as he now runs a 7.33. With the bat, Horn shows an open setup with a solid base. He has a knee-to-knee type load as he delivers and uses his lower 1/2 well. More at-bats and more reps will help him to gain more confidence as he sees a higher level of pitching. A 2017 grad - Prescott still has a lot of time to develop his skills.

11/07/2013 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Prescott is a young, lean OF/C that will graduate in 2017. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 7.35 60 time. He utilizes his quick / athletic feet well in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He reads balls well off the bat and works to get behind balls, playing through well with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate with carry but needs to work on getting rid of the ball quicker to improve arm grade. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times show a range of 2.25-2.31 with accuracy and constancy on his throws. Receiving / blocking skills are quality tools that will play well at the next level. . At the plate, Horn shows a squared with balance setup and an aggressive approach. Hands are quick and work through level swing path. He makes consistent contact and works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with ball jumping off the bat when centered. For hitting grades to continue to improve, he needs to work to stay through the ball more at contact, creating extension. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more and improve barrel accuracy. At the event, he was 2 for 6. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude and good instincts with solid leadership abilities. With 4 years to further develop, Prescott has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
