01/13/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament Preston continues to show as a prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities at the Pre-Season All American event. At the plate is where he shows best through an open setup. Hands are quick (87 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner. Pop times showed in 2.10 range with accuracy / carry (85 mph velocity) on his throws.

03/06/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Glendale (Phoenix), AZ Preston is a C/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2025. Tall frame athletic build with strength present and room to add throughout. At C, he showed athletic actions, with an flexible hips, and has an easy sit. Has good glove actions, with good pocket awareness, and tracks ball to mitt. He replaces his feet as he gains ground to second base with good direction. Has a short arm stroke, with a 3/4 release point, and arm velocity up to 80mph and a best pop time of 2.0 seconds. Made accurate and on-line throws consistently to second base. He works to keep balls in front of him and is quick to his feet. At the plate, he starts with an athletic and even stance. Showed smooth timing to his swing, with weight between his knees, and has a lower half driven swing. A direct hand path with a fast barrel through the hitting zone. Made square contact to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 86mph. With 3 years of continued growth and development, we foresee Preston having opportunities to play at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
