05/16/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Houston, TX Preston is an OF who will graduate in 2024. Medium frame lean build with strength present and room to add more strength. In the OF, he starts with active/efficient feet in the outfield. Good 1st steps enable him to take good routes to balls as he works behind/through. Works downhill on ground balls and he fields the ball out in front. 1 hand high catch with active feet throughout catch. Short arm action in the back as he works into a 3/4 release point coming forward. Clean exchange as he creates momentum on his throws into infield at 63mph. A right-handed hitter, hits from an athletic and closed stance. Quiet head/eyes as he tracks pitches well with good understanding of the strike zone. Made contact to all fields, with a bat exit velocity of 73mph, during his round of BP. With continued growth and development, we foresee him having the opportunity to play at the next level.

09/20/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Sugar Land (Houston), TX Preston is an athletic OF who will graduate in 2024. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and reads balls well off the bat. He needs to work to get behind and play through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a tall setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 4 years to further develop, Preston has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
