01/13/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Preston is a 2026 OF who showcased his skills at the BF Rookie PSAA Tournament. In the OF, he works to get behind ball, with quick/active footwork, and showed ability to make routine plays. Good first step reads enable him to run down balls in all directions. He fields out front with a clean gather off his left foot. Showed ability to get rid of the ball as he throws from a high 3/4 arm slot into infield with an arm velocity up to 71mph. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and even stance with low hands. Starts with activated hands and smooth timing to his swing. Showed good barrel control as he hit balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 70mph. With 3 years of continued growth and development, we foresee Preston having a bright future on the baseball diamond.

07/05/2022 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (MS) Preston continues to shine in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, he displays smooth actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. Mental makeup is a plus as he works hard and is very coachable.

05/01/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Trenton, NJ Preston is a lean OF who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Glove action is firm and but needs to use two hands through the fielding process. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a closed setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. With 4 years to further develop, Preston has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
