09/24/2023 - National Showcase - Rosemont (Chicago), IL Preston is a lean 5ft 10/135 SS/RHP in the 2027 class. In the field, his feet work well with his body and gains ground to the baseball. Has a squared fielding position and fields out in front. Arm action is loose from a high 3 qtr. slot. His feeds are accurate and makes on-line throws across the diamond. On the mound, he has good rhythm and balance in his delivery. Operates with a 3-pitch mix from a high 3 qtr. slot. His FB reached 68 and sat 65-7 with tailing actions. His CB showed tight spin at 56-8. His CH has good feel at 59-60 and by working to keep his arm angle up, will provide more deception. At the plate, he has a quiet head and stays balanced in his approach. Sees the baseball well and has a short and direct barrel path. Works to use the back side by staying inside the ball. Overall, Preston is a hard-working athlete and looks to have a bright future.

07/28/2023 - Baseball Factory National World Series at JRTC (MS) Preston is a talented SS/RHP out of Manteno, IL in the 2027 class. In the field, he plays hard and never takes a pitch off. He is an energetic type of player and plays well in motion. Starts in a relaxed stance and gains a positive 1st step. Covers his defensive zone well and ball sticks to the mitt. His exchanges are clean and uses a high ¾ release. Arms plays at 78 and is accurate. On the mound, he can pound the strike zone. He is also advanced in controlling the running game. His FB touched 74 and worked both sides of the plate. His CB shaped at 10-4 and ranged 58-9. His CH sat 63 and had depth. At the plate, he shows an aggressive mindset and looks for his pitch early. He can use the whole field and has a high finish. Barrel is on-plane and creates consistent contact. Overall, Preston is a very coachable player, can play numerous positions and plays like he loves the game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
