Official Scouting Report

  • Position Projection

09/16/2021 - Pathway AZ Upperclass - 18U Preston is a big strong athletic LHP/1B in the class of 2022. On the bump, Preston likes to work fast and with a great tempo. He has a good arm action and controlled landing which allows him to attack the zone consistently. He is a composed pitcher and likes to get ahead with his FB and use his CH as an out pitch. Defensively, Preston has an athletic ready position which allows him to react off the bat and get in front of the baseball. Offensively, he shows an athletic stance with a small stride with loose hands. He likes to work to the middle/pull side part of the field. He shows a great bat path and gets into the proper slot. Overall, Preston is a solid prospect who will only improve with continual work.

05/02/2021 - All-In Membership - Lodi (Sacramento), CA Preston is a RHP prospect in the class of 2022. He shows off a very good, tall and long, body that fits his position. On the mound, he throws both his FB and CH from a repeatable ¾ arm slot. He does a good job of working downhill towards his target. Commands the zone with his fastball to set up his off-speed arsenal. Both his FB and CH show lots of arm side run. At the plate, he does a good job of letting his long levers work for him and gets fully extended through the baseball. Shows a line drive approach. Does a good job of hitting into a firm front side. Preston is a fun prospect to watch that we hope to see more of in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
