02/17/2024 - National Showcase - Marlborough (Boston), MA Preston continues to shine with his baseball abilities on the diamond. At SS, he shows good preps and gets into a good position. Feet are active as he works to target and presents glove out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path with good bat angle. He stays inside the ball, utilizing middle of field well through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing as he transfers weight into a firm front. On the mound, he shows a repeatable delivery. Fastball showed a range of 57-58 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Off speed stuff show potential as being quality pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

12/27/2023 - Baseball Factory East Coast Winter Classic Preston is a 2029 SS who showcased his skills during the BF East Coast Winter Classic. At SS he starts with a good prep step with athletic actions. Gets good reads off bat and he works from right to left. He fields from a low fielding position with his hands out front. Made throws to first base from a high 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity up to 67mph. At the plate he hits from a relaxed and even stance with low hands. Has a small hand load with an on-time rhythm to swing. He hits into a firm frontside with good barrel control. In live game action he reached base 4 times with a single and 3 walks. Preston is a gritty player who showed his desire to compete. We look forward to seeing him at another event in the near future.

08/20/2023 - National Showcase - Hartford, CT Preston continues to show a promising future on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At SS, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an athletic, crouched setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 61 mph. Fastball shows arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

07/06/2023 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (MS) Preston is a 2029 SS/RHP who improved his skills during the BF Select Training and Competition in Cape Cod. At SS he gets good reads off bat and has good body control at baseball. He closes distance on batted balls and fields from an athletic fielding position with hands out front. Made accurate throws to first base from a 3/4 arm slot and an arm velocity up to 59mph. On the mound he works exclusively from the stretch. He has a clean arm stroke and extends out front. He attacks hitters with a FB that topped out at 54mph, a 10/4 shaped breaking ball, and a developing changeup. In an inning of work, he struck out 1 batter and did a good job of fielding his position. At the plate he hits from an upright and even stance. He has a controlled load and has a high finish. Rotates the lower half well and shows ability to control the barrel. In live game action he reached base 3 times with a double, a single, and reached on an error. Preston worked hard and made huge stride during his week in Cape Cod. We look forward to seeing him at another event in the near future.

02/20/2023 - National Showcase - Tiverton (Providence), RI Preston continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities on the diamond. At SS, he shows smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as attacks ball and plays through with his body. Hands are clean and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves his foot quickness. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 58 mph. Fastball showed a range of 54-58 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving stock on the mound. At the plate, he shows a closed setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

01/13/2023 - Baseball Factory's Spring Training at Jackie Robinson Training Complex (MS) Preston St. Pierre is a 2029 SS/RHP prospect. He does a really good job in the field of being in an athletic pre-pitch position. His feet are good and allow him to get low and field the ball out in front. Glove really plays and he makes good accurate throws with a clean arm action. At the plate, Preston gets a good active load that allows him to stay in an on-time and controlled rhythm. His swing is smooth and short, he keeps his head down and makes consistent, line-drive contact. Is able to repeat his swing. On the mound, he throws from a high 3/4 angle and shows decent feel for the position with a high level of compete. Uses a good stride to stay on-line toward his target.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
