Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

01/13/2017 - Baseball Factory Spring Training at Historic Dodgertown Preston is a hard working 3B/RHP from New Jersey. As a 3B, Preston applied all the drills he learned into his game and made progress throughout the camp. If he continues to have active pre pitch movement, show a low/early glove, play through the ball and follow through on his throws he will increase his overall ability at the position. At the plate, Preston sprays the ball to all fields, and stays balanced throughout his swing. If he continues to use his lower half, get his top hand to the ball and keep his head down at contact, he will increase his overall ability to hit line drives. On the mound, Preston has a 3/4 arm slot, stays balanced over the rubber, stays behind the front side, and is directional to the plate. Keeping his hands closer to his body in the stretch will help him break his hands on time during his delivery. Preston has a high baseball IQ and continued to make adjustment throughout the camp.

12/18/2016 - Interactive Video Program - Madison (NYC), NJ Preston is a 3B/RHP who will graduate in 2021. At 3B, he displays good pre pitch movement. He presents his hands out in front of his body as he plays through the ball towards his target. On the hill, this righty gets to a good balance point. He works hard with good control as he finishes strongly with his CH. At the plate, Preston presents a balanced setup. He swings with rhythm as he sprays pitches to all parts of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Low to high approach
2. Soft hands
3. Clean exchange
Pitching
1. Loose arm action
2. Strong frontside
3. Long toss
Offense
1. Lower 1/2 drive
2. Bat speed
3. Level swing path

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
