06/23/2018 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Preston is an athletic and talented 2020 2-way player. At 1B, Preston has an active prep step and presents a low/early glove. He works off the bag well, picks the ball, and is aggressive to the ball. Continuing to create a throwing lane on double plays and understating positioning on cut offs will elevate his skill set at the position. At the plate, Preston starts in a squared stance, loads his hands into the drive position, and keeps a quiet head. He recognizes the ball out of the pitcher's hand well and is a line drive hitter. Continuing to work on drills that create rhythm will allow him to attack the ball with his lower half more freely. On the bump, Preston gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and extends thru his delivery. He has good tempo in his delivery and fields his position well. Preston will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
