Official Scouting Report

09/04/2020 - MS All-Region Tournament Quentin continues to work hard on his skills. With the bat, this lefty shows an athletic stance with rhythm to load. He maintains good balance throughout the swing and extends through contact, spraying line-drives. At SS, he hustles into an athletic fielding position, funnels smoothly and has a clean transfer to throw. On the mound, he pounds the zone with strikes and repeats his delivery well. FB tops out at 63 mph while showing slight arm-side run. Breaking ball has 10/4 shape with good action. Only a 2025 grad - Starbuck has skills with upside and time to progress.

12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory West Coast Winter Classic (Ages 12-14) Quentin continues to shine on the baseball diamond. At SS, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

12/01/2019 - Accelerated Interactive Video Program - Sacramento, CA Quentin is a SS/OF prospect who will graduate in 2025. In the field, Quentin shows active footwork and flashes good lateral range. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them on-line to his target. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes his stride on time. He is smooth getting into his load and leads well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with fast bat speed, leading to solid line drives. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Long toss
Hitting
1. Remove bat wrap

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
