Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

08/05/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Quinn continues to show as a 1B/RHP with steady play in his baseball abilities. Feet are active as he squares up ground balls and present soft / clean hands and has improved his defensive grade. For defensive grade to continue to improve, he needs to work to improve footwork around the bag. At the plate, he continues to show as a switch hitter but is slightly better from the right side. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact and shows a good recognition of the strike zone. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to load more and use his lower half. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 77-79 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break. Command / control are a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is gained. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a hard worker and is very coachable.

05/19/2013 - College PREP - Rochester, NY Quinn is a talented 2-way player as a 1B/RHP who has a tall and lanky build. This switch hitter excels offensively through smooth rhythm and good balance. He utilizes his lower 1/2 well and makes consistent/hard contact. He will fit in the clean-up roll with his ability to drive in runs. Defensively at 1B, his tall frame will suit him well as he can get to almost every throw. He gets into a square fielding position and shows decent footwork around the bag. On the mound, this RHP has a 4-pitch arsenal with his FB ranging from 79-81 mph. CB is best off-speed as he throws it for strikes. He gets to a tall balance point and stays directional toward the plate. Kennedy is a player to keep an eye on over the next couple of years.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
