07/22/2013 - College PREP - Washington DC, MD
Quinn continues to progress in his game. This backstop worked to not only strengthen his arm (82 mph) but also to lower his pop times (2.12). Behind the plate, he sticks pitches framing well. He has a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball smoothly, making accurate throws. At the plate, this strong righty displays good balance and a smooth swing. He delivers the barrel on a level path and drives it to the gaps. Quinn should have success this upcoming season thanks to his all-around solid skill-set.
12/19/2012 - Pirate City Christmas Camp and Tournament
Quinn showed some improvements in his game during his time in Pirate City. Defensively, Quinn showed a simple approach, good body control, and firm hands. He fields athletically, his exchange is clean, and he throws with a short arm action with accuracy to his target. He communicates well to his team and takes a leadership role on the field. He can work on his footwork on his throws and getting his transfer higher while speeding up the exchange. Offensively, Quinn has an athletic set-up, good balance, and decent bat speed. He has a level swing plane and he gets his lower 1/2 through while showing an overall simple approach. If he misses, he gets on top of the ball, so he can work on centering the ball better, and also on finishing his swing. Quinn is a quality kid and hard worker and will make a great addition to a college baseball program in a couple of years.
08/06/2012 - College PREP - Bear (Wilmington), DE
Quinn is a solid and athletic catcher who has a strong arm. Behind the plate, pop times are as low as 2.20, with throws showing carry and accuracy. He gains ground toward his target well and uses his whole body to throw. A quicker exchange will help to lower pop times. Offensively, Magner shows a square/athletic setup and short stride. He swings with fast bat speed, makes consistent contact and hits line-drives. More extension through contact will help hitting abilities improve. Quinn is a solid catcher and still has time to work on his game.
