Official Scouting Report

07/05/2018 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Quinn continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. He improved his pop times as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.95. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Feet are quick in gaining ground through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. He shows a solid setup and sticks balls well in the zone and utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get down sooner. At the plate, hands are quick and work inside the ball, utilizing all fields. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 57-60 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Control is a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

04/29/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Phoenix, AZ Quinn is a lean, athletic, 2-way player who catches and pitches. Behind the plate, Quinn has efficient footwork, he keeps his eyes to the ball, and he sits-in low and athletically. He moves well laterally, has firm hands, and a quick exchange with accuracy and momentum toward his target. On the mound, Quinn has a clean arm action, a repeatable delivery, and a controlled landing toward the plate. Offensively, Quinn has an athletic set-up, he loads well, and swings in good rhythm. He has good balance, a line drive approach, and makes hard/consistent contact. Overall abilities can improve if Quinn can work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
