Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • C/RHPPosition Projection

01/13/2012 - 2012 Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament Conrad continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities, especially behind the plate where he projects best and showed as one of the top catching prospects at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Pop times have really improved, showing a range of 1.87-1.97 as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with life, accuracy, and on line carry through his target. Receiving / blocking skills are outstanding and will play well at the next level. At the plate, Quinten shows an athletic setup with balance. His hands are quick, generating bat speed and shows plus barrel accuracy with the baseball exploding off his bat. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to keep 2 hands on the bat through contact. On the mound, his fastball showed a range of 80-84 mph on a downhill plane. Off speed pitches show potential but he needs to concentrate his work ethic behind the plate where his future lies.

10/20/2010 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic - 2010 Quinten is a two-position player who showed best on the mound at the Arizona Junior Fall Classic. Behind the plate, he has plenty of arm strength. Quinten needs to continue to work on overall agility and flexibility to meet his potential behind the plate. At the plate, he has an athletic base and loose hands in the swing. Line drive approach and he works to the big part of the field. As he gets stronger, he has a chance to drive the ball more consistently. On the mound, his arm is loose and live. His delivery is steady and clean and he is around the strike zone. Works uphill with his shoulders at times. Curveball has very good rotation and depth and is a potential out pitch, and the fastball is heavy. As he gets stronger, and with his stuff, he has the chance to be a power pitcher.

07/27/2010 - College PREP - Council Bluffs (Omaha), IA Quinten is a tall, thin, 2-way player that Catches and Pitches. He currently projects equal at both positions as he approaches his Junior year. Behind the plate, Quinten has a wide base, athletic actions, and he holds a soft glove. He centers the ball well on his chest when blocking and covers the "5" hold nicely. Quinten gets rid of the ball quickly when throwing and delivers it accurately to his target. Added arm strength will only help this young Catcher get even better. On the mound, Quinten has loose actions, he keeps his eyes to his target, and he repeats his delivery well. He is around the plate with all of his pitches, he keeps his arm speed the same, and he makes good use of his lower 1/2. If Quinten can improve his CH, and continue to add arm strength, abilities on the mound can continue to get better. At the plate, Quinten has a good set-up, a balanced approach, and a level swing. He is relaxed in the box, he has some bat speed, and he can work the ball to all fields. Hitting can improve if Quinten can close off his swing and tap into more lower 1/2.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
