06/17/2011 - USA Baseball 16U Championships (AZ) - 2011 Randy is an athletic two-way player at 3B plus on the mound and he will graduate in 2013. Currently, he projects best as an everyday player with plus abilities, defensively and offensively. He was Co-MVP for the week as he got it done both at the plate and on the mound. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 6.84 60 time. Feet are active as he moves well laterally, displaying range but needs to be more aggressive in coming to get while playing through with his body. Hands are soft, clean, and sure as he makes all the plays. He gets rid of the baseball quickly with hands / feet working well together. Arm strength is above average showing carry and accuracy across the diamond. Offensively, Bell shows a balanced, aggressive approach. Hands are quick and direct, generating bat speed to and through the ball at contact. He shows a feel for the barrel with plus accuracy as the baseball jumps off his bat when centered. At the event, he was 11 for 17 with a 3B, 2 2B and 5 BB as he is patient at the plate. He is a play maker on the bases as he is aggressive, looking to take the extra base. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 81-86 mph with slight arm side run as the ball explodes out of his hand. Off speed pitches show potential as being quality out pitches at the next level. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break and stays down in the zone. Changeups show a plus feel for with sink and fade action. He attacks hitters as he throws strikes with all his pitches, changing speeds well as shows potential as being a closer type arm. Randy is a gamer and very coachable as he works hard and is willing to make the adjustments to be the best he can be. He will catch the eyes of the top collegiate programs with his baseball abilities.
