01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Raul is a switch hitting catching prospect who will graduate in 2024. During this event, Raul would show great defensive work behind the plate posting a well above average rating in his receiving and blocking. We felt he looked very comfortable in his stance, quiet as he received the ball and clean with his blocking footwork. With an impressive 81 mph raw velocity and clean exchange as he threw to 2nd, Raul posted a 2.18 pop time. This was his best time recorded to date. Not only did he impress behind the dish, but Raul also showed his power off at the plate. Showing it from both sides was even more impressive. His loose hands, firm front side, and centered approach helped Raul provide a consistent approach at the plate. Taking the small hitch out of his swing, we see his contact numbers continuing to grow. Overall, Raul is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

11/10/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Wildomar (Los Angeles), CA Raul is a young, 2-way player with solid skills. Behind the plate, Raul has active feet, he sits in low and athletically, and he presents his glove well. He looks the ball into his glove, blocks quickly, and throws with momentum and accuracy to 2nd base. At 2B, Raul has a presentable glove and active footwork. He fields low and athletically, funnels well to his chest, and throws with a short/accurate arm to his target. At the plate, Raul has a square/athletic stance, good balance, and a square stride toward the pitcher. He swings aggressively, has fast bat speed, and makes square/level contact. Overall skills can get even better with work on the following.

Catching
1. Lateral range
2. Arm strength
Defense
1. Angles
2. DP's
Offense
1. Let ball travel
2. Strength

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
