06/16/2018 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Raul continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.31 runner. At SS, feet are active as he moves well laterally, displaying range. Hands / feet work well together as he presents glove well out front. At the plate, he shows a balanced setup. Hands are quick (88 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a solid feel for the barrel with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered. At the event, he was 4 for 10 with 2 stolen bases. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

01/15/2018 - College PREP - Tucson, AZ Raul is an athletic SS who will graduate in 2019. Defensively, Raul has active feet, he covers ground well, and fields in a low position. He has good pre-pitch actions, a clean exchange, and throws with accuracy and consistency across the diamond. Playing more through the ball and quickening his release can help defense improve. Offensively, Raul has an athletic set-up, good balance, and explosive bat speed. He swings in good rhythm, uses his lower body, and can work the ball gap to gap. Letting the ball travel and continuing to sharpen barrel accuracy will help hitting get even better.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
