  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

07/17/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Reece continues to show improvements in his baseball tools. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At SS, he displays clean/smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up, displaying sure hands as he makes the plays. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact and shows a feel for the barrel through a line drive approach. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 72-74 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to develop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

03/04/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Indianapolis, IN Reece is a 2-way player who will graduate in 2022. At SS, Reece has good pre-pitch actions, efficient footwork, and he fields in a square position. He moves well to the ball, has a clean exchange, and throws with accuracy and consistency to his target. On the mound, Reece stands over the rubber well balanced, he has a clean arm circle, and keeps his eyes on target. He separates on time, has a controlled landing toward home, and can repeat his delivery well. At the plate, Reece has a tall set-up, a square stride, and a proper load. He swings in good rhythm, makes square contact, and can hit to all fields. Reece can improve overall skills with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
