01/07/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (AZ) Reed continues to as a prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities at the Under Armour Pre Season All American Tournament. On the mound, he works to a controlled balance point, has smooth separation and fires from a clean/loose arm action. He gets strong glove-side lead and stays directional toward the dish. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 88 mph. FB ranges from 85-88 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball shows 11/5 shape with late, sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his split finger with sinking action. Control is outstanding as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Reed has a big upside on the mound and will get looks from the top collegiate coaches.

06/16/2019 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Reed is a coachable SS/RHP prospect who continued to showcase his skills at the Omaha National World Series. In the field, Reed takes a good first step and shows active footwork. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and rotates his core well, producing solid line drives. On the mound, Reed gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and stays inline towards the plate, finishing with his chest over his front knee. Reed shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 82mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 62-68mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits at 67mph with late arm side run as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall, Reed is a talented prospect who should find success going into his sophomore season.

01/27/2019 - National Tryout Plus - San Jose, CA Reed is an athletic and talented 2022 2-way prospect. At SS, Reed is on time with his prep step, he presents a low/early glove, and has a quick first step to the ball. He takes good angles to the ball, plays through the ball, and makes accurate throws. On double plays, he has a clean exchange and throws from multiple arm angles. At the plate, Reed starts in an athletic stance and has a smooth load. He hits off a firm front side, attacks the inside part of the ball, and stays balanced through contact. On the bump, Reed has confidence and features three pitches. He creates tail on his 4 seam FB, he has an 11-5 break on his curveball, and has feel for the change up. He gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and works downhill. His loose arm action creates whip and allows him to work over the front side. Reed will continue to improve with experience and we are excited to see him Omaha this summer.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
