Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

07/28/2023 - Baseball Factory National World Series at JRTC (MS) Reed is a talented 2B/RHP in the 2027 class. In the field, his feet are active and he creates excellent attack angles to the baseball. Glove is in sync with his body and the ball sticks to his leather. Shows a solid arm at 70 velo and his throws are accurate. Needs to work on his internal clock as he rushes at times. On the mound, he shows poise and is projectable. He keeps his eyes to the target and works down the slope well. His FB sat 61-2 and worked both sides of the plate. SL has slurve actions at 56-7 and with faster hand speed, it can become an excellent pitch. At the plate, he shows an aggressive approach with tremendous extension. He barrels the baseball and is a proven gap-to-gap type hitter. Can let his front side leak and times and working to stay inside his feet through contact will put him into elite hitter category. Overall, Reed is a player to follow in the 2027 class.

04/16/2023 - National Showcase - Oklahoma City , OK Reed is a 2B prospect who will graduate in 2027. A young/developing player with some strength present and plenty of room to add throughout. At 2B, he showed efficient footwork as he works to center the baseball. Works into a square fielding position with good glove actions and hands out front. Made accurate throws from a 3/4 arm slot, with momentum towards target, and an arm velocity up to 69mph. He showed good actions on his DP feeds and pivots. At the plate, he hits from a tall and open stance. A simple setup to start and showed some hand/hip separation. A direct barrel path enables him to hit line drives to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 65mph. With 4 years of continued growth and development, we foresee Reed making huge strides on the baseball field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
