At 3B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active and play through with is body he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball through a line drive approach. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 79 mph. Fastball shows a range of 78-79 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

11/08/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Columbia, SC Reese continues to show improvements in all his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, power potential has improved through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At 3B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program.

12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic (Ages 12-14) Reese is an athletic 3B prospect that was a team player and was eager to learn. At the hot corner, Reese is on time with his prep step, he presents a low/early glove, and works from the ground up. He needs to improve his first step quickness and continue to build arm strength. He makes accurate throws and can throw from multiple arm angles. At the plate, he’s aggressive on the fastball and consistently barrels the ball. He has an active load and keeps the barrel on plane. He needs to continue to attack the inside part of the ball and rotate his lower half. Reese will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

09/08/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Greenville, SC Reese is a lean, athletic, 2-way player who catches and plays 3rd base. Behind the plate, Reese has fluid/active feet, he sits in squarely and athletically, and his hands are soft. He centers the ball well, uses his body to block, and he throws with consistency to 2nd base. At 3rd base, Reese has soft hands, he moves with agility to the ball, and he fields in a low position. He gains momentum toward his target and throws with accuracy across the diamond. At the plate, Reese has an open stance, he loads well, and stands in with proper balance. He has a level swing, makes consistent contact, and he uses his lower body. Overall skills can continue to get better with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
