07/27/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Reese is an athletic and talented 2019 Catching prospect that worked hard and made several adjustments throughout the week at Pirate City. Behind the dish, Reese creates momentum in his lower half and has a strong arm when throwing to the bases. He needs to have a balanced primary/secondary stance and present a low/early target. Working under and behind the ball will allow him to be stronger when catching the ball. He needs to lead with his glove and get both knees down when blocking. Anticipating balls in the dirt and reacting to strikes will allow him to be on time. At the plate, Reese starts in an open stance, gets his front foot down on time, and loads his hands back into the drive position. He has good bat speed and extends his hands through contact. Attacking the inside part of the ball and creating backside rotation will allow him to keep the barrel on plane. Reese has a high baseball IQ and will continue to improve with experience. We hope to see his progress in the future.

02/25/2018 - College PREP - West, TX Reese is a strong, athletic player with valuable positional versatility in the field. He shows blazing speed down the line and uses it to cover plenty of ground at third. At the hot corner, he shows good agility to move laterally and make tough plays. Behind the plate, he blocks well with a soft chest to deaden the ball. His feet work quickly and his arm is strong to post sub-2 second pop times. At the dish, he attacks the ball with fast bat speed and strong hands to deliver the barrel. He makes consistent, hard contact and drives the ball with big pull side pop. Squaring up his feet will allow him to transfer his weight more easily and stay balanced. Reese is a well-rounded player with good upside.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
