Baseball Factory D.C. All Star Experience (Ages 14-18) Reid is an athletic and talented 2019 2-way prospect that made several adjustments throughout the training weekend. At 1B, Reid has an active prep step and creates angels to the ball off the bag. He presents a low/early glove, works from the ground up, and picks the ball well. Continuing to practice game like throws in his throwing program will increase his ability to throw from multiple arm angles and on the run. At the plate, Reid starts in an open stance and loads his hands back into the drive position. He uses the back side, stays on plane with the ball, and stays balanced through contact. On the bump, Reid gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and stays directional toward the plate. He needs to continue to be aggressive down in the zone and improve his off-speed pitches in order to work off his fastball. Reid will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 14-18) Reid is a lean, athletic 1B who will graduate in 2019. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate he shows a squared / athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a compact swing path. He is aggressive and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard. With 2 years to further develop, Reid has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
