01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Ricardo is a very skilled 2-way prospect who continues to shine. At SS, he puts his athleticism on display working fluidly right to left around the ground ball. Hands are presented out front, soft to funnel and quick to release, firing throws on a line. At the plate, this righty has a balanced setup with rhythm to load. He doesn't get cheated and absolutely unleashes on pitches he likes. The ball explodes off of his barrel as he sprays it to all parts of the field (exit velocity = 89 mph). Once on base he's aggressive and gets good 'dirt ball reads' taking the extra base when he can. On the mound, Ricardo maintains fluid tempo, gets to a controlled balance point and stays directional toward the dish. He fills up the zone with strikes and challenges hitters to swing the bat. FB tops out at 83 mph while breaking ball shows 11/5 shape with good action. This 2020 grad possesses the all-around skill-set that will make things happen in a variety of ways on the diamond.

07/18/2018 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 16U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Ricardo continues to show shine on the diamond. In the MIF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and zip (86 mph velocity) on his throws. At the plate, power potential is now outstanding through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 83 mph. Fastball showed a range of 80-83 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program and building more arm strength with aid in further development on the mound. Mental makeup may be his best tool as he plays the game the right way.

01/15/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Tucson, AZ Ricardo worked out in the OF and on the mound during his last workout in Tucson. He showed very well at both positions and has a high baseball ceiling. In the OF, Ricardo has quick/active feet, he takes good angles to the ball, and makes plays smoothly. He fields in a square position, has a clean exchange, and throws with momentum and carry to his target. On the mound, Ricardo increased velocity to 82 MPH showing a nice downhill plane, good extension, and sharp off-speed. He keeps his eyes on target, has good glove side lead, and rotates well through to his target. At the plate, Ricardo stands in athletically, he swings in good rhythm, and has good balance. He has explosive bat speed, he gets good extension through the ball, and makes hard/consistent contact.

04/30/2017 - College PREP - Phoenix, AZ Ricardo continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a well above average runner at 7.19. Defensive abilities in the MIF are now solid as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and he presents well out front. He moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground, displaying range. Athletic abilities are shown on his feeds / turns of the double play. At the plate, hitting / power potential have improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through a simple / compact swing path. He has strength in his swing and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 82 mph. Fastball showed good cutting action. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for pitch with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

01/15/2016 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Santiago is an athletic/versatile player who makes things happen when he steps onto the field. He showed very well during him time in Florida. At SS, he displays active footwork moving around the GB while presenting his hands out in front. He funnels smoothly to a clean exchange and works in-line toward his target at 1B. Offensively, this righty has a balanced setup with a strong base. He swings the barrel with speed, connects with strength and drives the ball on a line back up the middle of the field (going 2 for 4 with 2 singles, 2 walks and 3 RBI's). On the mound, Ricardo is a strike thrower who competes. Arm works loose & free as he stays directional toward the plate and repeats his delivery well. FB now tops out at 76 mph as he works to keep the ball down in the zone. Ricardo has good leadership type qualities who plays the game the right way. A 2020 grad - he has a very bright future ahead of him.

07/24/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Ricardo has worked hard and molded himself into a solid 2-way prospect on the diamond. With the bat, this RHH has fluid rhythm to load waiting back for his pitch. Barrel delivery is quick as he whips it through the zone with speed on a short/compact path. The ball jumps off of his barrel when centered as he uses the whole field. At 3B, Santiago has quick/active footwork and moves well with smooth/athletic actions. He fields the ball out in front and funnels smoothly to a clean exchange. On the mound, he gets good glove-side lead and repeats his delivery well. He drives off the rubber with his lower 1/2 and works downhill toward the dish. FB still sits at 71 mph while showing slight tail. Changeup is thrown with FB arm speed helping to create deception. Working on getting more extension on his follow through will aid in his development on the mound. Only a 2020 grad - Ricardo has a solid all-around skill-set and has a bright future ahead of him in the game.

05/03/2015 - Interactive Video Program - Phoenix, AZ Ricardo is a skilled 2-way player as a SS/RHP. With the bat, this righty shows a square setup with good balance. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
