09/04/2020 - HS All-Region Tournament Ricky continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At SS, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel through a line drive approach.

10/28/2018 - College PREP - Corpus Christi , TX Ricky is a strong and athletic 2B prospect. At 2B, Ricky is on time with his prep step, anticipates the ball off the bat, and presents a low/early glove. He has smooth actions to the ball, creates angles, and plays through his back hand. At the plate, Ricky starts in a squared stance, load his hands back into the drive position, and stays balanced through contact. He creates backside rotation with his lower half, attacks the inside part of the ball, and hits to all fields. Ricky will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

10/01/2017 - College PREP - Georgetown, TX Ricky is a talented shortstop prospect who has a well-rounded skill set. Offensively, Ricky has a square setup with his weight in the back of his stance. He takes a short stride as he partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. Ricky shows fast bat speed with a direct swing path. He has a middle of the field approach and looks to hit line drives. Ricky does show the ability to drive the ball to each gap with power. In the field, Ricky plays with effective footwork taking the correct angles to cover ground in each direction laterally. He presents his glove and fields the ball in a low, athletic position. Ricky has a clean exchange leading into a long arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. His throws are accurate as he plays through the baseball. Ricky is smooth with his double play feed and turn. Overall, Ricky plays the game athletically with an effective approach giving upside to get even better.

07/29/2016 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Ricky continues to show improvements and has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate, hitting / power potential have improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Power will continue to improve as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively. At the event, he was 5 for 7 with a 3B. At 2B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and squares up well with his body. Hands are clean as he presents on time and out front. He shows off his athletic ability on his turns / feeds of the double play. Increasing foot quickness will aid in improving range. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy on his throws. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. Overall, Ricky is a talented young prospect who will be a name to follow as he continues to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
