07/29/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Ricky is a big, strong 1B/RHP that will graduate in 2017 with a promising future on the diamond at both positions. Defensive abilities are solid as he displays outstanding foot work around the bag and is a quality receiver. He works to get around ground balls and squares up well. Hands are soft /sure and he consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt, saving throws. At the plate, he shows a squared / athletic setup and an aggressive approach. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and makes consistent hard contact, showing outstanding power potential as he works to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 74-78 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to grow as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and develops better off speed stuff. Mental makeup is a plus as he plays hard and is very coachable. With 2 years to further develop, Ricky has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the college coaches as he continues to improve, possibly as a two-way guy.
