11/10/2011 - Pirate City Select Training - 2011 (Pre HS) Rigoberto is a tall and thick 2016 graduate who plays 3B. He has average arm strength and he throws from a high 3/4 arm slot. Rigoberto has all the athletic ability to be a good infielder if he makes a few adjustments and works at it. More specifically he needs to play through the ball more smoothly and he needs to work hard to get quicker and more efficient footwork. At the plate, Rigoberto showed some good things. His lower half gets through, he makes hard contact and he has good bat speed. On his load he drops his hands which works now but is very difficult to do successfully. Contact is inconsistent which is due to his hands dropping and his balance being wobbly. Rigoberto is a very nice kid with a lot of athletic ability. If Rigoberto works hard on the fundamentals he can be a very good player in the future.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
