01/18/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Vero Beach, FL Riley is a SS prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. At SS, Riley shows quick footwork and covers ground well. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he makes accurate/on-line throws through his target. Playing through the ball more can help Riley make stronger throws. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a crouched stance and takes his stride on time. He is smooth to load and hits against a strong front side. He swings with intent and drives the ball to his pull side. Riley can create more consistent contact by working through a more level swing path. Overall, Riley is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

12/11/2020 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Riley is a SS/RHP who plays the game hard. At the SS position, he has athletic actions with the ability to finish plays. He has recorded his best arm strength to date (78 mph arm velo). He has a quick transfer and makes accurate throws from a quick, high 3/4 arm slot. At the plate, this RHH battles. He continues to produce hard, consistent, line-drive contact with a compact swing and fast hands. He jumps on pitches he likes and hits line-drives (going an impressive 4 for 6 with an inside the park HR, a 2B and two 1B's). On the mound, Bambino shows great ability to pound the strike zone from a 3/4 arm slot. He showed a two-pitch mix (FB/CB) recording his best FB velocity to date (79 mph). His CB (60-67 mph) showed an 11-5 shape with tight spin and good depth. He gets himself into a good rhythm, with quick tempo, and works to get ahead in the count. Bambino is a skilled athlete who has upside and the tools that will make an impact in this his junior season.

09/04/2020 - HS All-Region Tournament Riley continues to shine on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.28 runner. At 2B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. At the plate, hitting abilities are now outstanding through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach, flashing gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 76 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Control is outstanding as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches.

01/17/2020 - 2020 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Riley is an athletic R/R (5'8"/130) 2B/OF who showed well during his time at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament. Defensively is where he excels. He displays quick/active prep footwork and moves well on the balls of his feet, ready to go right and left. Hands are presented out in front as he smoothly picks the ball out of the dirt and gets it to 1B quickly. At the plate, this RHH shows a tall/balanced approach with a solid base. He whips the barrel at pitches he likes and looks to hit the ball on a line. More pop will come as he continues to engage his lower 1/2 and add strength. This 2022 grad has a ton of upside and is one to keep an eye on over the next couple of years.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
