03/14/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Fresno, CA Riley continues to shine on the diamond. At SS, he shows smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active but needs to play through with momentum to his target. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increase foot quickness. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a crouched setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he gets stride foot down sooner to work on time.

01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (TX) Beck is an athletic LHH MIF who showed well at the Pre-Season All-America Tournament. Defensively, he has good energy with quick/active prep and is aggressive to come and get the GB. He works right to left, picks out the hops and funnels smoothly. Transfer is clean with accurate throws across the diamond to 1B. At the plate, this leadoff type hitter is looking to get on base anyway that he can. He has a good eye for the zone and sees a lot of pitches (drawing 2 walks at the event). A smooth stroke on-plane with the pitch connects and hits line-drives, mainly to his pull-side. Riley is a talented SS who should find success in this only his junior year.

09/13/2020 - All-In Membership - Fresno, CA Riley continues to shine on the diamond. At the plate, hitting potential is now well above average through an open setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. At SS, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program.

07/28/2020 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Riley continues to show as a prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.29 runner. At SS, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

12/27/2019 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Riley is an athletic and talented SS prospect that has a good baseball IQ. At SS, Riley is on time with his prep step, he fields the ball in front of his body, and is on time with his glove. He has a clean exchange and makes accurate throws on double plays. He needs to continue to improve his first step quickness and arm strength. At the plate, Riley starts in a squared stance, he loads his hands back, and keeps the barrel on plane. He rotates his backside and looks to hit the ball gap to gap. Riley will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
