07/20/2022 - Southwest Championships 16U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Riley is a class of 2025 3B/RHP prospect. He shows off a good frame with decent athleticism. At the plate, he showed plus bat speed and raw power with exit velos up to 88 MPH. He showed quick twitch and good reactions along with a natural feel for the barrel. He does a good job using his lower ½ and showed the ability to find barrels in game. In the field, he did a good job fielding beneath the baseball. Showed some range and good footwork to help him pick out hops. His arm was strong across the diamond. On the mound, he did a good job of working ahead in the count and mixing pitches to keep hitters off balance. He was able to record 7 strikeouts in only 5 IP. His fastball worked up to 79 MPH and was able to consistently throw his breaking ball for strikes at 67-68 MPH. Riley is a well rounded player that we hope to see again in the future.

12/05/2021 - All-In Membership - Chandler (Phoenix), AZ Riley is a young, 2-way player who plays outfield and right hand pitcher. Defensively, Riley has active feet, agile range, and he presents his glove well. He tracks the ball, fields out in front, and shows a clean exchange with accuracy and consistency to his cut off man. Defensive abilities can improve with a quicker exchange, longer arm action, and added arm strength. On the mound, Riley has a good balance, a quick arm action, and he separates his hands on time. He lands with good direction towards home plate, he repeats his delivery well, and lands with a controlled landing towards the plate. Mound effectiveness can improve with more lower half use, and a better finish. Offensively, Riley has a square athletic set up, good balance, and fast bat speed. He loads his hands well, works the middle of the field, and hits with pop and his bat. Solid hitting numbers can further improve with added barrel accuracy, and a more level swing plane.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
