Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

09/12/2021 - All-In Membership - Keizer (Salem), OR Riley is an OF/RHP who will graduate in 2023. Medium frame lean build with strength present with room to fill out. In the OF, starts with quick as he tries to create fielding angles and ability to cover ground. Works behind baseball with a high 1 hand catch. Fields from a low fielding position with a quick exchange. Has a long arm action in the back into a 3/4 release point coming forward. He made accurate/on-line throws into infield, with good carry, and an arm velocity up to 84mph. On the mound, athletic actions with deception to his delivery. He gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. Has a controlled landing and gets his chest over his front knee. Works off of a FB that sat 79-81mph with arm side run. He mixes in a 11/5 shaped breaking ball with tight spin and a slider he throws from the same window with ability to throw for strikes. 4th pitch is a developing changeup that he needs to adjust his grip to get more of speed variance. SL was best pitch during his bullpen session. At the plate, he hits from an upright and open stance. Showed some quickness to hands and a fast bat through the hitting zone. Gets extended as he sprayed balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 84mph during BP. With 2 years of continued growth and development, we foresee Riley having a bright future on the baseball field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
