02/21/2022 - All-In Membership - Gambrills, MD Riley is an impressive SS in the 2023 class. He recently impressed scouts with his actions and athletic ability. In the field, he has great pre-pitch movement and quick 1st step off contact (6.82 60 yd). Takes good angles and positions himself into a low athletic stance. Pushes through the short hop and gathers well on the long hops with his feet. Displays a quick and clean transfer to establish a high ¾ arm slot. Can make throws from numerous defensive zones (80 velo) that are accurate to his target. At the plate, he is equally impressive. Very simple swing and engages his lower half properly. Makes good use of his hands in the load phase and attacks the baseball with intent (80 exit velo). Working to let the ball travel and use the big parts of the field will turn him into a dominate hitter. Overall, Riley is a talent prospect who will only get better as he progresses in his craft.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
