09/16/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures East Riley has one of the best hit/power combinations in the entire 2019 class. It is fun to watch him swing the bat, as he has a fluid, pretty left-handed stroke with serious bat speed. He accelerates through contact into a full finish and the result is the ball exploding off the barrel. Riley has legitimate power lofting high home runs, mainly to RF and RCF, throughout batting practice. Riley also shows off his athleticism in the OF using his 6.69 speed in the 60 to close well on balls. He also has the arm strength necessary to play all three OF spots. Riley doubled to the opposite field gap in game play and continues to establish himself as one of the premium prospects in the country.

09/17/2016 - 2016 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures East Riley is an exciting 2019 prospect who is one of the top hitters in the class. His left-handed stroke is fun to watch, as he uses a coordinated and efficient swing to generate serious bat speed. The ball just explodes off his bat with big pull power. The sound at contact and life off the bat are different than other players at this level. What is even more surprising is that he does it with a frame that is thin and wiry-strong, and he has a pretty quiet approach that doesn't exert any extra effort. As an outfielder, Riley reads balls well off the bat and glides to make plays. He has a natural, instinctual look in the OF and throws accurately. This is an extremely exciting prospect with some of the loudest contact you'll see and the arrow still pointing up for him. it will be fun to watch him continue mature and develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
