05/29/2021 - 2021 BF National Florida Showcase Riley is a leader behind the plate with the durable frame you look for in the position as well as the toughness. He's also athletic - 6.78 in the 60 - and it shows in his flexibility receiving and the way he moves laterally on balls in the dirt. At the plate Riley has rhythm to his stroke and excellent acceleration through the hitting zone. He has some loft power (95 mph exit velocity) and an aggressive approach. All signs point to a run-producing bat at a premium position.

01/17/2020 - 2020 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Riley is a strong and athletic 2022 catching prospect. Behind the dish, Riley starts in a quiet primary stance, he presents a low target, and he works under the ball. When throwing, he has a clean exchange, quick feet, and a strong arm. When blocking, he anticipates the ball in the dirt, he leads with his glove, and controls the ball with his chest. At the plate, Riley starts in an open stance, he loads his hands back into the drive position, and he attacks the inside part of the ball. He rotates his lower half and he consistently drives the ball gap to gap. Riley is highly motivated and we hope to see his progress in the future.

09/29/2019 - College PREP - Sanford (Orlando), FL Riley is a pure catch and throw backstop who has a tremendous future on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements (7.10 60 time) allow him to center/deaden pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest. Runners will not want to test his cannon (86 mph velocity) for an arm with impressive pop times of 1.95. Offensively, he continues to shine through a closed setup. He has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation and delivers the barrel with leverage, resulting in a barrel accuracy (90 mph exit velocity) with the ball coming off of his barrel well. With 3 years to further develop, Riley has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the top collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
