Official Scouting Report

12/27/2018 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) Riley is an athletic and talented 2019 2-way prospect that made several adjustments throughout the week. In the OF, Riley is on time with his prep step, he anticipates the ball off the bat, and has a good first step to the ball. He works behind fly balls, but needs to stay low on when coming up to throw on ground balls. At the plate, Riley starts in a squared stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and looks to drive the gap to gap. He needs to continue to attack the inside part of the ball, drive his backside down, and keep his head down at contact. On the bump, Riley gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and rides his back leg toward the plate. He creates tail on his fastball and has an 11-5 break on his curveball. Continuing to Work north to south in his delivery will allow him to work over the front side more consistently. Riley is a hard worker and we hope to see his progress in the future.

09/30/2018 - College PREP - Bellevue (Seattle), WA Riley is a lean OF prospect who will graduate in 2019. In the field, Riley shows efficient footwork and is aggressive attacking the ball. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them on-line to his target. Riley can improve defensively by working to make more accurate throws. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and is smooth getting into his load. He works to barrel up the baseball and produces solid line drives. Riley can improve as a hitter by taking a shorter swing to the ball. Overall, Riley is a solid prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
